Fircrest Hit and Run Illustrates Two Important Points--Purchase the Maximum PIP and UIM You Can Afford
2/17/2008
A tragic accident in Fircrest reinforces a frequent refrain in this blog: buy the most PIP and UIM insurance you can afford. It doesn't cost very much more--as little as $100 a year--to purchase PIP and UIM maximum limits of insurance.
We blogged about this hit and run accident
last week. Bicyclist Sandy Johnston, a 66-year-old University Place resident, was struck by a motorist who stopped and dragged her to the side of the road before leaving the scene of the accident. Johnston had multiple fractures and cuts and was taken to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment.
Progress has been made in identifying the hit-and-run driver. Last Friday Investigators confiscated a car that they believe may have been involved in the hit-and-run and identified a “strong person of interest.” We hope that Ms. Johnson mounts a speedy and full recovery. That recovery will be made much easier if she has the benefit of maximum PIP and UIM coverage.
