Car Strikes, Injures 2 Girls on Bikes
9/17/2007
Friday evening, around 5 p.m. two 13-year old girls were struck by a car while riding bikes on the shoulder of a road.
The woman driving the vehicle that struck the two girls was reportedly distracted by the dog that was riding with her. The woman veered into the shoulder, struck the two girls and then hit a power-pole in a ditch alongside the road. The two victims suffered serious injuries from the collision and were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.
Have you or someone you know been involved in a bike-car collision? If so, consider contacting an attorney today.
There are two interesting issues potentially implicated in this case. First, injured pedestrians (or bicyclists) are entitled to recover benefits under the at-fault driver's policy. Second, comparative fault or comparative negligence is applied differently to children than adults.
